This brand takes its name from Sapporo Agricultural College, a real educational institution from Hokkaido’s pioneering days and the predecessor of today’s Hokkaido University. The college opened in 1876, with three professors invited from the United States, including Dr. William Smith Clark, who joined other faculty to teach Western knowledge and technology. Through their instruction, the college laid the foundation for Hokkaido’s agriculture and produced many outstanding individuals. The frontier spirit that defined the school’s founding ethos continues to be passed down through generations of students to this day. The brand, which bears the college’s name, is officially recognized by Hokkaido University.
A portion of sales proceeds from Sapporo Agricultural College products is used to support the university’s educational activities, an initiative that has continued since the brand’s launch in 2005.
